Can i use the stock bypass valve and vent it into the atmosphere instead of having it recirculate back into the intake tube. let me know what you guys think. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks,
Sean

I'm not positive but I dont think you can. I believe when you vent to atmosphere you need a Bow off valve vice the bypass we run. I'm still learning about this stuff so I'll let the pro's on here add to this.

You could, but you would have to relocate the maf, and go push through instead of drawl through.

Any bypass can be used as a BOV. But sense the maf is before the bypass you would be venting air that has already been measured, and accounted for by the computer.

That makes sense. Does it matter if you run a draw through or blow through when adding an FMIC? I currently have a draw through set up and intend on keeping it that way. Is it just preference?

No, but you might want a bigger bypass. The ic will had more volume. The other problem is, once the volume gets big enough, it can cause back washing of the maf, when redirecting back in the inlet pipe. One reason I switched to push through. But I ran a Ic redirecting for years until I upped the boost, then it became a problem.

ok i see, I'm looking for a Vortech Mini Race as we speak. I'm hoping I dont have any of the backwash issues you speak of, I'm al set up for draw through and only plan on running 10lbs of boost max. Thanks

How hard was it to tune with you reducing the diameter right before and after the maf? Mines ugly, but I used 4" pipe 1' before and after the maf.

Did you also use a maf extender to support 750 rwhp with that maf? I understand your's has more range, but that's also determined by the size of the pipe it's in and the size of the pipe directly before and after.

tuning wasnt really an issue. the car runs, idles and drives just fine.

i dont have a MAF extender. it was seeing 1015 counts though so i'm not far from needing one.
