Vortech pulley ?

Hey guys, I will be instaling a Vortech S-trim within the next few months and I wanted to see what size pulley I should run. The car is a 2000 GT, most bolt ons, and I will be running a power pipe, but no intercooler for the time being. I'm on the stock block, but I want to good safe power. Any recommendations?

stock pulley is 3.6" and is good for 350-380ish hp, depending on bolt-ons.

Personally, if you've never been boosted, I would go with that first. You can always pulley that s-trim down and hold on!

edit: how about a meth/water kit until you get an intercooler?

I'm not too worried about the power as I've driven turbo/supercharged cars before. Friend had a 97 supra and another has a vortech SVT Focus, so I definitely know how the boost feels. I appreciate the suggestion though. How many lbs of boost does the 3.6" usually see? And would I get a little more with the power pipe?

I probably won't do the meth/water kit, but who knows. I would probably do an intercooler sometime early next year depending on how long I can actually wait.

When I had my car tuned with the stock (3.6") pulley it was pretty cold outside and nice and chilled in the shop and I saw 8.5psi...idk, but I usually see 7-8psi, but my best friend has a 99 with the exact same setup and he sees 1 to .5 less psi than me.

i have a reichard racing 3.4 pulley i will sell you for dirt cheap....i dont use it anymore and it will get you 10 lbs of boost and is safe for your motor with a good tune. pm me if interested.

3.2 and 3.33 are about as far as I would personally go on a stock motor. Our blocks (unlike Foxbodies) can handle the power, unfortunately, that's pushing the limits of the stock internals which become a concern north of 400-425rwhp. Depending on your mods, the 3.2 would put you around 420ish, but could be very safely (de)tuned to make power, and the 3.33 will come a little under 400.

Bob, depending on how you drive, you should be pretty safe with that meth injection. If you're the type of person to give it a good run at the strip or the road and give it time to cool down for a bit, you should be just fine. If you stay boosting for a while with little time to cool down inbetween, you'll see your temps rise as the blower and intake/block will be heat soaked.

when i had the 3.4 pulley and just the meth injection i was seeing 10 psi at the intake at 5600rpms....i now have a 3.0 pulley and front mount intercooler and i see 12 psi at the intake. i have a really good tune and am pretty hard on my car sometimes and the highest i see my intake temps go is 90-95 deg. with your meth injection you will be just fine with that 3.2. :nice:
