I'm shopping around for a good price on gears. One place wants $640 to do the install.

Wow. $640 for the install is steep. What size gears did you get?

I haven't bought any yet but will more than likely be going with FRPP 3.73's. Yeah, that price seems outrageous to me. I called another place but they haven't gotten back with me. It may come down to me installing them myself.

You are for sure going to have your blower powdercoated?

No, I ordered the polished unit. Bob informed me that my Vortech warranty would be immediately voided. Didn't want that headache.

Well, you could pay Vortech $700+ to do it.

Haha Have you thought about deleting the smog pump and the EGR?

If you delete the smog pump, you will have to get a smog pump delete pulley to replace it with. The way the Vortech kit clocks the tensioner pulley makes it so you have to retain the smog pulley in order for it to work.

Do I have to delete the smog pump if I delete the EGR?

No. Is there a reason why you want to keep it?

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

No, they are unrelated. It's a good time to swap it for a delete pulley since you have it all apart though. You will have to get a reprogram to run without an EGR, but since you are doing the Vortech, it's a good idea to do one anyway.

Ok, I'll just delete them both. Where do I get the delete pulley for the smog pump?

I bypassed my smog without a pulley and have no issues. There is a specific belt AND idler pulley you use and it works flawlessly. There will be enough tension on the belt without it squeaking! I'll get part numbers for you tomorrow. It's a b**ch getting the belt on, but it works nicely.

All the folks I've ever seen get the smog delete pulleys have had them only last a couple years before the bearings wear out.
