Vortech

alright... ive been saving up for like 10 months and i finally have enough money to buy a vortech V1 S-Trim complete kit!
my engine bay is all completely stock and pretty old. im wondering if its the best idea to put a supercharger on it.
also will i need to buy: pulleys, fuel injectors, mass air kit??? I heard platinum spark plugs dont work with a charger?
I'm only 17 and i am still learning about stangs but do u guys think installing a supercharger is way too hard? should i just save up some more and have it done professional?
thanx guys...

theres a lot of hidden costs behind a supercharger and a lot to think about besides just the motor...like the transmission and cooling system. but if youve got all that worked out...than go for it. if i were you i would just take that money and buy heads/cam/intake. it will be much less hassle than a blower and will give you a chance to freshen up the motor with new gaskets and components

EXACTLY.

I really really really wish I would have went h/c/i before I bought my blower. I truely regret it now.:( But the blower is fun, but I personally think a good H/C/I would be a lot funner.;)

The complete Vortech is designed to run on a stock engine. Meaning it will come with everything you need to make it work on a stock motor. The "s-trim" comes with an FMU and a T-Rex fuel pump which goes along with the stock pump.

Once I put my blower on I was just having more and more problems and ended up spending more and more money. Just be prepared.

yeah...it would probably be more power than just taking a stock engine and throwing a blower on it. my buddy spent 3k and got cobra upper and lower intake, twisted wedge heads, and a custom cam. and all the fuel upgrades and stuff. he put down 297 at the rear wheels without a tune at all

now that i think about it...i think that 3k included his drag lites...so yes it will be less than 3k

blowers are great and add good hp. just be prepared they do take about 2x as mich $ as you paid just for the kit for different goodies. also if you put the blower on, keep your head on and don't go over the stock supercharger psi ratings till you have your engine is completly ready for it. you can get the sc trim for around 1500-1900 complete liek i did, your engine will be fine as well as the kit is upgradeable. just a though if you don't want to spend a lot right away. but i would still go with the heads cam and intake. but uf your thinking of going to a blower then put a cam like the e303 in, or something for a supercharged engine. if you put a cam in for an n/a engine and add a blower your gunna loose a lota hp from it.

You will definately need a MAF conversion (you still would have needed it witht he blower anyways) You should put at least 24# injectors and at least 30's if you plan to add a tiny bit of boost later (I have 36#ers and 6psi with AFPR, no FMU) The throottle body you should go with at least a 65mm, but no bigger than 70mm

You can get a MAF converio for just the price of a meter and computer, you can make your own maf harness

How did you like you power pipe from UPR? Did you feel any gain or anything? Just wondering.

It's ok. I don't like where it puts my filter and meter, but any powerpipes puts it in the same spot....and the 90* elbow from the pipe to the blower is right up against my fuel line and shrader valve so it's going to be a tight fit to hook up a FP gauge....I cannot tell you of any gains from it because it came with my blower when i bought it (used) and it came with the power pipe instead of the factory vortech tubing

Even though the kit comes with an inline t-rex I would upgrade your intank pump to a 255lph walbro. You definitley need a maf conversion. You need boost and fuel pressure gauges. You also need an adjustable fuel pressure regualtor that is boost referenced. You could also upgrade to bigger injectors and a better maf that comes in those conversion kits. Believe me there are alot of hidden cost with a blower. You could buy a h/c/i kit from trickflow or holley you get everything minus fuel pump, injectors, t-body, maf, afpr, and no rockers with the holley. Its still gonna cost at least 3 grand to do h/c/i more if you dont know how or have the tools to do the install. The supercharger is pretty easy to install if you have mechanical know how.

i found that trick flow engine kit on summit, i think i might order it next week when i get paid! what all would i need to order?
here is whats on my list...
-Trick Flow Engine Kit
-Ford Racing MAF Conversion
-BBK 70MM TB & Spacer
-Ford Racing 30# Injectors
-Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump
-What AFPR should i get??
that should be all i need to put it on my stock a$$ engine right? thanx

nightrider50---You'll get more mileage with the TFS H/C/I the SC will rush you along to a rebuild quickly plus you'll be swapping pullies for more boost in know time any stanger would lol..I did my swap for around 3k but I already had mass-air and that included some port work to the heads....I would go with the a Kirban AFPR

All I can say is do everything right the 1st time. You are asking should you get the tfs heads ported? Depends? What is your ultimate goal? You can always get them done later but your car will be down for a while. I would get 24lb injectors not 30s and a Kirban regulator.

yeah get the 30s if you are going with boost down the road. youll just have to tune it right so you dont run too rich. but doesnt the ford maf conversion come with 24s anyway? i thought it did...oh well. does that kit come with an intake..or what were you thinkin about?
