I don't think you will run into any extra bottom end issues due to the car being a stroker. Since you are running a supercharger this might be a good mod for you. FI cars benefit much more from the added stroker. As hotmustang said BB will get you more and BB/stroker is the best but for the price with your supercharger a stroker motor like that will work nice, but if you don't mind the extra cost I would consider a BB/stroker

i dont know about you guys but i think im gonna play it safe and stick with the regular stroke 4.6. not only because it is more proven but because i heard that the stroker picks up tq but looses some power up top.

dont know if theres any truth to this. this was also said about a na application. so i t could have lost power simply because it had lower compression. i dont know the build up of the car though. if it wasnt going to get a blower then it wouldnt have had low compression.

id like to try it out but i dont have money to throw around like that.

i think i will start to get my blower stuff first and see if i can learn more about the stroker over the next couple of months.

Well I think the problem is the speed that the piston is traveling in the cylinder faster in a stroker vs a 4.6, and this causes more wear on the rings. So i dont thing adding deck height will do anything, maybe make everything wear more due to more friction.
So a 4.6 stroker still doesnt have the piston speed that a 5.4 does, so from that angle it should last longer than a 5.4

I believe it is the increased travel of the piston that causes more strain on the rods... the increased deck height of the 5.4 insures the piston remains completely in the bore all the way to TDC, and keeps the piston stable at high rpms. But according to VT, the piston in the 302 stroker leaves the bore (at most) by 0.3", which is a tiny amount and kind of makes the piston instability argument a moot point. So I don't know it's all speculation to me. Like I said about Jim Fitzgerald, if that guy can run 600+ rwhp through a stroker, do hundreds of track passes and still use the car as a DD, then I would imagine these things can last as long as a stock stroke 4.6.

Dude you not gonna loss power whit the stroker you getting torque big time and the power band is gonna be toll true in-tired RPM,but would be silly if you build the bottom end and live the top end totally stock, than I don't know what gonna happened.
But here is my case,I have forget striker 10.1.1 pistons minor clean up in the heads Vt stage II cams,My power band was some like this:I got about 280HP @4600rpm,300hp @5200,303hp@5500rpm280hp @6300rpm 270@6700rpm,
this is dynojet SAE horsepower, car was dyno at only 300miles after motor was assembled,70degree weather weary muggy day.
I don't se any lose horse power on the top end .
Once again I am very happy whit the performance of my stroker motor, but you build your own car the way you fill the most comfortable whit, good luck.

thanks for the info. what do you mean by "minor clean up in the heads"

just asking because i was wondering how the stroker would work with the fox lake heads with over sized valves. i dont want anything messing up the heads, i love the fox heads. there wouldnt be any contact or anything, would there?

Minor clean up,that exactly what I was told by my builder, may be like stage 1,
as far as fox like heads goes I can't say much about that because I never have experience whit that,I don't want to say something whit out having proof to back that up,but once again nice set of cams and you point above over size valves I don't se why is not going to work weal.

A big bore setup would really take advantage of those oversized valves... because the stock bore is shrouding them for certain

i dont know about you guys, but a big bore is going to run way too much money for me. i want to get this project rolling by next summer.

so im either going with the standard stroke vt sportsman block or the stroker.

id like to try the stroker but i want to make sure there are no clearance issues with anythin internally. i dont know a whole lot about how the pistons and internals of the engine lining up with everything in the heads. i dont want there to be any chance of contact.

im going to see what my installer thinks about the stroker. if he dont like i am going to pass. we'll see!

sorry if that was confusing. i guess its the pistons im worried about. with them comming out like that cant they ,make contact with somthing and be destroyed? im gonna have enought to worry about on this built up, i just dont want any added issues.

Dude take your time do the research first and when ever you are comfortable than do the thinks that you want to do,but I guarantied you can go wrong whit the stroker kit, there is I plenty of people running strokers kits over at modular power house, blown pushing 550+ RWHP running 10.05 @140mph 1/4 mile.........so good lock to you.................later.............

thats what i'm leaning towards again i can't make up my mind...i already bought everything to build my Teksid with Manley forged stock replacements but i feel like i should sell my 4.6 manley pistons and send my block/cobra crank/manley rods to VT to be bored and sleeved while i have the chance. Oh the choices...

hey, if you've got the capital and you've got the time, why not? I'm sure there are plenty of people out there looking for forged pistons for the 4.6, you'll definitely get some buyers. Blown, cammed, 302 bigbore.... ridiculous!
