Ok I orderd the VT Sportsman shortblock with 19cc Diamond pistons. I got to thinking later today, if/when I do heads and cams will the pistons be ok? Ive heard about notched pistons do I need those? If so do you think if I called them tomorrow to get them that would be OK?

It depends on the cams. I went with VT stage 2 cams and didn't need them notched.

With a 19cc dish and just the stock stroke you should have no problems. Did they say what the 19cc gives you for a compression ratio? Make sure your very close to or under 9.0 so you can run some high boost on pump gas. Mines a stroker so it's a little different but i went with 23cc dishes and that gave me about 8.9:1. I would guess the 19cc would put you under 9:1 for sure with a 4.6. but better to check anyways.

I think it was 9.4 or 9.2 cant remember. I asked him about that and he said they usually put in 9.0 on the KB cars since they make so much power down low.

That's true. Everybody I've talked to does the same. KB's have more violent torque off idle so it puts a real crap load of torque down low. You'll just have to be careful to listen for detonation up top in the RPM range.
