S1 can keep the stock valve springs to. If you were going for S2 would need new valve springs. I understand removing and installing valve springs is complete hell, Nick did his cam install and didn't have anything good to say about that part.

stangman said:the only way it should cost a grand for the install is if they take the head off & set up the valve springs on a bench. stage one with no springs usually go from 300 - 450 on average. if you're gettin quotes for more than that for the install, look elsewhere. heck bring it to chattanooga & i'll give ya a deal on labor
