I absolutely want new seats, primarily 03 Cobra or the Focus SVT euro-option black-leather Recaros. However, it looks like the new '05 GT leather-option seats look like pretty decent seats. True, or are my eyes deceiving me? My guess is that once the car hits there will be a decent supply of them available (which translates to a reasonable price) as people upgrade their stock seats. This is likely an affordable option, but how good are the seats? And are they worth waiting for?

Opinions, please...

They look slightly better than the current seats. Have you looked into the Ford Racing seats? I don't know what they cost but they look pretty good.

As far as I know the FR500 seats are just new foam and leather on the stock GT seats. They look awesome, though. But considering how poorly the stock GT seats fit a human body, I'd need to sit in them first. The other side is they are not cheap, on the order of $1500 installed. For me, I'd rather spend a little less and go with some nice condition 03 Cobra seats.

I doubt 05 seats will be any cheaper than a 3rd party. Ford loves to charge you $ out the wazoo for OEM.

Would the 05 seats even fit? I mean its on a completely different platform now...head/foot room is completely different with a different shaped interior.

Wow, I never even considered that. I thought the only limiting dimension was the width of a sit to physically fit between the console and the door sill. If what you say is true, then I'd could have the same problem with those Focus SVT Recaros, huh? Interesting input.

I totally agree with you on that. However, I was thinking of some used but nice-condition seats off of eBay.
