Walbro 255lph on stock motor

can it harm my motor in anyway ?
i can have a huge deal on this pump and i think mine is starting to get old, should i get it ?

Absolutely, the returning fuel system will dump the rest back into the tank for use another time. It will be safe.

hell yeah get it! and no it wont harm anything! i just got a intake holley 255 for........ well not shure i got a complete 86 5.0 and i mean complete from intake to oil pan even the wiring harness plus the pump all i need to do is hook up the wires and drop it in and some clear cornors for $150.00. and the engine has 150,00 miles on it and runs strong! peace

Won't harm anything. I was told that you might need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator as well though? Can someone confirm this?

I put one in mine last summer and it ran better/smoother than the stock one, so no it won't hurt anything.

While on topic, how can you tell when the pump is going out? My fuel pump has been getting pretty load lately.

Loud is a determing factor, but unfortunately they don't have a "check fuel pump" light.

For example, my 2.3L had 229,000 miles on the stock fuel pump, that thing was loud as a Jumbo F'n Jet. No problems, I just changed it because the sound was annoying. Could've gone another 100k, could've gone another 100 feet.

My neighbor's fuel pump died at 90,000 miles, wasn't nearly as loud as my 2.3's was, but loud nonetheless.

I ran mine with the stock FPR. Not sure if I needed an aftermarket one or not, but I didn't have any problems that I know of.

I initially ran mine with a stock FPR. The only reason I went adjustable was to try and tune the car, NOT because of the large pump.

With a TwEECer, there's really no need for the AFPR anymore. I actually experimented and watched the EEC compensate for my fuel pressure changes through my wideband O2 sensor.

the stock FPR should be fine. it does not matter if you have a mouse on a wheel bring fuel up or a bell turbine - the return line will return what you dont need, as DM said.

people argue about returned fuel being hotter, etc. i dont think it matters, esp if you dont run the tank low.

dont pay 150 for it, you can get them for like 100 bucks from most places. i got mine on ebay brand new for 80 shipped

I put a high pressure walbro 255 on my stock motor two weeks ago.

The answer is no you don't need a FPR and the fuel pump will not hurt anything. Also, I paid about $120 from JD performance.
