Want to know all about Aluminum Driveshafts

so i want to get rid of some of this crappy slack in the drivetrain. with that said, im thinkin bout an alds.

who noticed what from installing one?

what else is needed to install one? yoke? better u-joins? and what does the yoke and u-joint do anyway?

and finally, what needs to be done to install it? just the bolts or is there any balancing required?

just tell me all about em and if it will help my situation, which again, is just alot of slack and clonking around when driving slow or decelerating and hittin the gas. im sure u all know what i mean, and cams dont help either. thanks :SNSign:

The FRPP unit is a little lighter and balanced better than the stocker. It's a quick bolt on, and it reduces clunkiness some, but does not COMPLETELY eliminate it. For 200 bucks it was worth it I'd say.

+1 also get a safety loop when you get one if you go to the track alot. I love mine, i noticed some better response with the throttle. Def worth the money.

This will be a waste of money and will have no effect on performance.

If you are having vibration issues with the d/s then just balance it.

If you have slop in the drivetrain to a certain extent it is normal and can be minimized by your shifting technique. If the slop is cause by the u joints just replace those not the whole driveshaft.

Because of the rising price of aluminum these are getting more and more expensive all the time. I would guess they cost more than $200...

Not sure I agree completely - if he is launching his car hard, an ALDS will definitely help. Also, a couple of less pounds on a rotating part can make a difference in transfer of power.

That being said, an ALDS would definitely not be one of my 1st 15 mods

The FRPP will be highly recommended by stangers here on SN, and yes a safety loop is a good idea (they're like $30)

I swapped mine when my u-joint went bad but it really didn't make a huge difference. Of course that had been a while back before the metal prices went nuts so mine was 160. If you have gears it may clean up some of the harshness in the drivetrain. It is a straight swap with nothing else needed.

thats good to know, since i have wayy more than 15 mods.. i think im gonna go for it.

killy, i have great respect for you on this board, and you go out of your way for ppl all the time, however, your opionions on mods are totally biased and almost uncredible. i mean, its gotta do Something.. i know im the one askin.. but still..
