Does the TR3650 have a neutral safety switch? That would solve my problem at least. If all manufacturers installed a NSS, remote start would be perfectly safe on a stick car
no it does not.. BUT you are right if there was a N start safety switch then you would be all set for remote start
Why on Earth would someone park the car in neutral??? I have no need to start my car w/o the clutch in.
The main reason is that you are slowly eating up your thrust bearing. When you push in the clutch, you are putting up to 3000 pounds of force against the flywheel to release it, depending on what clutch you have. When you are doing this while cranking, the bearings are dry and it's grinding until you establish oil pressure.
People don't have enough common sense as a whole, and the stupid people are even more stupid then they used to be, that's why they added that feature.
A neutral safety switch, quick wiggle to verify neutral and no need to depress the clutch is the way to go.
thats a stretch, I have not noticed any extra wear on the thrust bearing in a manual trans car.. the bearings are never totally dry anyways.
That is somewhat of a stretch, but it is a valid point when you want to talk about the details. I still dislike having to clutch it on my 02, but it's not near the problem now with better oils.
Yes, unless a long period of time goes by, the bearings are never "totally" dry, but you don't run an engine without oil pressure even if it has oil on the bearings. It's the same principal, and not a radical amount less load then the mains see under idle with no loading.
After tearing down somewhere under a 1000 engines ranging from lawn mowers to top alcohol motors, then one constant you can see regarding thrust bearings is increased wear from a bad converter in an automatic and as a rule of thumb quite a bit more wear from the loading forces induced by the clutch on a standard.
I'm not saying that it will take 10,000 miles off your motor, merely helping to prove a point for someone that was getting railed on by a bandwagon of misinformation.

I agree with this post on the wear comments about the autos with converter issues. but where was he getting railed on with misinformation..
Do you think the car is just as safe without the switch? if you do then we disagree. it is quite possible to have a accident occur without the switch..
No, I never stated that. You have to have EITHER a neutral safety switch OR the clutch down switch.
It is possible for somebody to start it in gear without any kind of safety switch.
