Want to use AFR 205's and hydr. roller cam?

Its probably a matter of just changing the springs, but Ed should be able to let you know what you need to change for it to work with hydrolic roller.

You can order your 205's from AFR with spring's rated up to .600 lift instead of the .670's which I believe is what come with them. I run 205's on my 408 with Comp's 288 Xtreme Energy Hyd. Roller Cam, and I used there new Bee Hive Spring's and Titanium Retainer's. The bee hives are ultra light and bring the max RPM of the hyd. roller cam to around 6300 RPM. Or you can just swap the AFR spring's with whatever Comp recomend's for the cam you select. Whatever you do, because of the high flow rates of the 205's you are going to want a pretty decent cam to get the most out of your stroker.

You can order your heads with springs for hydrolic roller, at least you can from Houston performance, the spring upgrade(for solid roller) is 135.

The spring's that come std. with the 205's are pretty extreme and woudn't be to hard to sell for a decent price. I'm in Canada so I'm not going to make any dollar figures as they don't compare to the US. Like I said above, go with the bee hive spring's. I sold the spring's that came with my 205's and I called Comp and they gave me the Bee Hive Spring Number that would best match my cam. If you don't want to spend big cash go with the steel retainers, as you will still have a light valvetrain, but if you don't mind spending an extra 100 for the titanium retainer's go for it as it is one hell of a light setup. You will need to buy spring locator's from comp as well for the bee hive's but they are cheap anyhow.
I just finished my 408 not long ago, so I'm still in the take it easy a bit break in process, but it run's like you woudn't believe. Using the lower deck height 69' Block involved shaving the SRP piston's a hair, but it was very minor. Otherwise it was an easy build and I havn't had no problem's yet. It make's awesome power all the way from 2000RPM to 6300RPM. I would definetly get rid of those Hyper. piston's you have though, and put some good forged unit's in there. There's nothing wrong with a supercharger, but I have alway's liked some good NA Horsepower (Big Compression, Big Cam etc.) That's your call though.
