Hi Folks;

A few may recall I run a reverse valve body, full manual, non-decompression 1st, 2800 stall C-4 in my 64.5. I'm about 5 foot 8 inches tall and have never been happy with the stock shifter geometry of the early stangs. I have tried several cable shifters and due to the high pressure of the tranny, I stretch the cables...and believe me you do not want to over-shift third, even in a reverse VB C4...it ports fluid to reverse...a costly and somewhat painful experience.

So.....
I am about to the point where I am going to fab my own shifter (mechanical linkage!) to raise and bring backward the shift handle to a more comfirtable position. I am hoping that someone else has already improved this part of the old stangs and can give some help!

I've never heard of high trans pressure causing any shifter issues. That seems really odd to me. I've run several full boogie C4's and they all felt fine through whatever shifter I was using, normally a B&M pro-stick. Are you sure you don't have a problem in the bracketry or linkage that might be causing problems?

No. the transmission builder Jim Galatioto in Rancho Cordova CA (ATO) perofrmance is my source. Two things I do not do in my stable; bodwork and work on Automatic Trannys. I'll at least attempt everthing else.
