You sound like an insanely jealous teenager who just doesn't have the cash to buy high-end parts. Get over it.

He is a teenager, but far from jeolous. He just bought a new shortblock for his car, a dss 306 and is doing all the work himself. He has 'high end' edelbrock perf heads (new style), comp cam, gears, yada yada yada. Me, im not a teenager, im 23 and I agree with just about everything he has posted. hairycanary, no flame, but how fast are you?

i personally would like to see someone in here with a stout trick flow head setup

whatever you do, dont go with a little girly cam.

It amazes me the people who have the money for all the other expensive parts that go with a small cam because they are scurred.

when a good cam with some not so good heads can make better power than their setup.

Michael

You asked if I would do anything different.

When talking with Ed about how agressive to go with the cam, I told him I had to pass the roller emissions test in my area and I would be using a Tweecer to tune as well as help with drivability issues.

He said that he would go a little bit more on the agressive side considering I had a tuning device to help with any drivability probs that might surface.

At that time I did not have any experience at working with drivability probs with the Tweecer cause I had none.

Now that I know the capabilities of the Tweecer, I wish I would have had Ed go farther than "a little bit more agressive" with the cam specs.

I will take your word on that. But it has nothing to do with his juvenile attitude here.

Congratulations. What does *your* age have to do with anything? It makes your opinion more valid? I don't consider HIS opinion invalid simply because he's a teenager, it's invalid because he's acting like a jackass.

Not fast enough.

You mentioned something about his age, so I mentioned mine As for the 'not fast enough' comment, care to share how fast you really are? I'm not fast enough or as fast as I should be but I posted my #'s. No offense, but you post VERY highly on afr's, so lets see what the track says about that. Not a flame, just curious..

"I will take your word on that. But it has nothing to do with his juvenile attitude here." Actually it does because you said this:

"You sound like an insanely jealous teenager who just doesn't have the cash to buy high-end parts. Get over it."

Yeah, but what about passing emissions? These combos sound great, however some cam choices won't pass emissions though?

What cam with those combos can you go with that would still pass emissions?

Its got nothing to do with juvenille attitude it has to do with getting sick of hearing the same thing repeated over and over. Everyday their is atleast 2 or 3 basic combo questions in the 94-95/ and 5.0/5.8 tech forums combined. After being on this site for awhile it just gets irritating. I feel like we need a newbie question forum. Anytime a some what involved tech question is asked it gets minimal replies.

The AFR/FTI/EDELBROCK combo. is def. proven and i think that is why it is mentioned so much. For anyone who doesn't want any guess work they can go with this combo because it has been proven to make power over and over again. However i will have to agree with stangin it, and gr92lx, about every time someone even mentions another heads it is said to be a waste of money etc.. I think the TFS stuff is too much airflow for a 302 with any kind of a mild cam, and i think that is why you don't see many of those trick flow combos in our cars. That being said, it would be nice to see a car make ~300 hp without the AFR's and the custom cam. I did hear a sound clip of killers car, it sounded nasty. Just thought i'd add that.

hey snoozer where did you get that dyno graph etc from and what kind of set-up was that. Just wondering

flewthecoupe, i honestly think that the most proven combo is the AFR/FTI/Eddy combo. I am not going this way because of Price factors and i know that, i have an e-cam and 1.7rr Ported lower from TMOSS, and some other stuff. However i will be changing intakes soon POWERHUNGRY

LOL- good luck with whatever decisions you make

I'm pretty sure that's DarkPony from corral. GT-40 P's, Anderson cam and Cobra intake. He now has a rebuilt 302 with AFR's though.

My appologies for starting a flame war and asking a "newbie" question. I may be new to this board but not new to others. I have researched and maybe I didn't search this board quite thoroughly enough, but punch "300 hp" then "best heads" and then "good cam" and then "killer intake" (or similarly worded searches) and then sort through 200+ posts and more than that in pages and then figure out that you're looking at info for a fox body, or a 4.6, or a 5.4, or a 78 stang. I frequent half a dozen boards besides this and most times you can get some good answers in a day instead of spending a month looking through unrelated posts turned up by a search. I'm glad nobody ever made me reveal what car this combo is going on because that could have started something worse.

Again, thank you to all that were tolerant with me and answered my questions.
