I know "perform a search". But this project has a few things involved. Going to rebuild rearend. Should I go with 31 spline axles or stay with stock 28 spline for the 5 lug conversion. Also, want to use the bullit calipers on both front and rear. I want the look and the performance. I want all new stuff. Can anyone give me a good checklist of good things to get. Thanks for any help.

28 spline unless ur stock carrier is totally destroyed or u need to power holding capabilities of 31 spline. I know of many cars that run low 11's and 10's on 28 spline axles.

As far as the conversion, there are a ton of companies that make all inclusive kits to covert to 5 lug and rear disc, just don't expect them to be cheap.

I agree with above. 28 spline is more than enough, in fact I think, moser makes a 28 spline if you want more durability. Youll be fine though unless your running slicks and dumpin the clutch at the track.

you can do a rear 5 lug/disk conversion cheap as hell if you can find an explorer rear end in the local junk yard .... will have both.

28 spline is good enough for you. 31 spline if you are for sure gonna add more power. But if you are just thinking of adding more then go with 28...because you prolly wont...thats a rule.

The 03's will fit. We put them on my friends 90GT and the rears are 17X9 with a 285-40-17. The front is 275-40-R17. The fronts rubbed the paint of his rocker molding, but he has coil over suspension with 4 lug fox spindles....that must have something to do with it. I had 275's on my notchback with stock Fox suspension and SN95 spindles with no rubbing.\ on the fender...but they still hit the Kframe on full lock, even with the 245's I have right now...they hit the Kframe.

I kinda disagree with the comments about the 28 spline axels. I understand there are a lot of people out there running good numbers with them. But i would consider them lucky....and on borrowed time. While you are in there i think you should throw better axles in there. Even if they are just upgraded/hardened moser 28's so you can use your stock carrier...but i would think 31's would be the best...and now is the right time.

It seems like you have the money to do this the right way...judging from your original post. I would get a nice Eaton posi and some 31 spline mosers and call it a day. Never think about breaking that rear end again!

If you have the money and time go with 31 soline, if not then the 28 will be fine.
