Warning for those using an iPod

I got my Ipod adapter here, and it has worked great for two years now, I also have a 06, bad thing is it wont control the ipod through the radio but it beats the fm modulator or anything else I tried. actually i take that back looks like they have a new model that will control the ipod through the radio, dam looks like a have to spend more money..

I tried and tried to find out if Ford's new Advanced Triptunes will let you use an ipod and factory satellite. I called Ford and everyone else I could think of. Ford promised me an answer in three days, more than a week ago. I actually had one of the units, took it to my stereo expert. His opinion was less than 25 percent chance it would allow me to use both. The only way to find out was to take out my factory radio and hook it up. I elected not to do that. Ford's instructions suck. They are little more than cartoons with no words and no phone number for tech support.
I am very, very disappointed in Ford. I ended up installing another Alpine with all the controls I need.
By the way, my factory satellite antenna will not work with other tuners. Ford uses a special antenna connector no one else uses. Ford also drills your trunk to install its antenna. I left it in place and hide the new antenna.
Ford is still lightyears behind the aftermarket when it comes to stereos. But what really, really disappoints me is that no one can give you a straight answer.
The limited instructions with the Adanced Triptunes says go to Fordaccessoriesstore.com for a complete manual. Guess what? There is no link to a manual or anything else.
And customer service, they wanted to refer me to Sirius for information about a Ford product. I am still waiting for Ford to call me back.
I may find out who really killed JFK before I know if Advanced Triptunes will let you use an ipod and factory satellite.
Ford wonders why it is in trouble?? I don't.
It's made me angry enough to buy a Chevy.

I can email my buddy at Crutchfield about these possible problems/solutions. He used to be a phone tech support and is now in the research and testing part(tears apart the cars to see what fits and what works or not).
I know I want to get an MP3 player by years end. He suggested one of two Alpine head units. CDA-9883(iPod ready with face controls) and the CDA-9885(iPod and satellite radio ready with faceplate controls).

I'm just going with a PIE aux input which is pretty fleshed out now. I have an external Sirius unit in my 06 so I'll just run a splitter like I do in the wife's Jetta and run my ipod and satellite through that, it's better than an FM transmitter by a large margin. No head unit control of the ipod but there are other options like the Monster iPod remote, it's RF and will do the trick, the cost of the Monster remote and the aux input from PIE is about the same if not a few $ less than the ipod control stuff out now.
