Warning lights

I have a 2007 Mustang GT with automatic transmission and base instrumentation (no Message Center).

When I turn the key "on" the warning lights for O/D off and door/trunk ajar do not illuminate. Are these particular lights supposed to illuminate as a check that the bulbs are okay?

The bulbs are okay at this time, because the O/D off light comes on when I turn off the O/D and the door/trunk ajar light came on when I accidentally did not lock the trunk.

Well I have the message center on my 05 and mine only comes on when I turn off the overdrive and if the trunk opens so it's fine. Enjoy your car.

Ditto to Cruzin-in. Your cruise control is the same way. Only illuminates when you turn it on while driving.

The lights that come on when the key is turned to ON are tied to the "necessary" system functions, sort of like when you "boot" up your computer. There is all kinds of stuff going on in the resources that you will not see.

Drive that Stang and enjoy it!
