Yes, extended warranties are for suckers in MY experience, I will never buy an extended warranty again....EVER. On a performance car, I would even be hesitant to get a regular warranty. Theres a little something called "abuse" and if the company wants to rule it as abuse, well....you're F@#$@%.

they denied a claim on a cobra for having a cold air intake on it. the car had a bad transmission.

trash the POS warranty, they wont cover anything for you. just a scam to get money

Just found this thread via a search. I was at my dealer today and inquired, it came out to about $1100 for the ESP which would take me to 75k miles I believe. Worth it IMO, and for $1100 it's good to have the piece of mind. Things can start to go after 50k or so I guess...I know on my Denali an air bag went out and a couple other things with an ESP would have covered.

Plus I guess it depends on the relationship with the dealer too. That's BS that they denied a tranny issue for having a CAI, two totally non related items. In that case, might as well deny a piston going through the hood for having tinted windows too.

edit: I just noticed I typed ESP...which reminds me of one of my guitars sitting on a stand 10 feet from me..lol

Like you said, a lot depends on the Dealer and your established relationship with them. If you have a friend that works there, or for Ford, or a Lawyer in the family, you are probably OK. If you don't, then you take your chances. Both the factory and extended warranty are full of "escape clauses" that favor Ford and can be invoked to deny virtually any claim. The most onerous of these is the one that states any component failure caused by failure of an uncovered component is also not covered. My bone stock '03 ejected a spark plug at 5000 (yes, five thousand) miles and the repair was denied on the basis that Ford inspected the vehicle and ruled it was caused by a defective spark plug (they claimed spark plugs are considered maintenance items and not covered). It would have cost me a lot more to sue the spark plug supplier than the $300 I paid for installation of a Timesert to restore the threads in the cylinder head.

Needless, to say, I did not waste my $$ on a Ford extended warranty they were unlikely to honor.

My son was denied warranty coverage on his honda when his Block cracked for no apparent reason. They said "the warranty covers parts, but the block is not a part, it is a container that holds all the other engine parts" In other words if they want to get out of it, they will find a way.

Chuck it in the trash!!! You dont need a warranty on a Mustang!!! If something breaks you upgrade it with aftermarket parts that are way better!
