ok, we bought a 2006 premium GT with the 6 year 100,000 mile extended warranty on it. now we are having it lowered. my ? is, by putting the lowering spring on the car, what exactly will this void warranty wise? or is it going to be only the spring? we are using the Ford Racing lowering spring, but it is not factory. i know if something fails on the car, the mods have to be proved to be what caused the damage, or else the failure is under warranty. so is there a reason to be reluctant to lower the car? or go for it?

I'm certainly not an expert, but the following items come to mind:

- More than likely you will void the warranty on the struts and shocks as they may be operating outside their design range.

- You could void the warranty on the differential (a change in the pinion angle due to change in the suspension geometry).

I'm sure there are more things that could be included on the list, but these are the ones that immediately come to mind. With Ford taking it in the shorts these days, I would think that denying warranty claims for modified vehicles is an easy way to reduce costs.

My dealer told me that such lowering would void my warranty. Period.
I think legally only parts that could be affected by the lowering can be voided.
Ask your dealer and see what he says.

this is true, but it has to be proven the installed part made the factory part fail in the first place. it is a law, but most dealers will try to make you believe otherwise.
