Was My Air Dam/deflector Put On Wrong?

I just bought a 2016 V6 Mustang and I noticed that the air deflector/air dam was not installed in the groove underneath the front bumper.

Instead of running along the groove the air dam starts behind the groove and then comes over it in the front.

Pretty much all the 2015-2016 V6 Mustangs I've seen have the air dam running along the groove. Was mine installed wrong or something?

I'd really appreciate any help you guys can offer.

I'm still curious to learn if it was installed correctly or not, but even if it wasn't the location of the air dam has caused me some problems. It prevents me from parking with the front bumper over some low curbs. I can’t install a STO N SHO front license plate bracket because the front of the air dam extends too far at the front. Also I think it might be scraping against an incline on the way to work.

If the air dam ran along the grove it would solve all these problems. How hard would it be to move it?

The air dam looks to be in the proper location as far as I can tell, hard to gauge from the perspective of the pictures. As far as parking blocks go, my car hates them as well lol

Sorry about the closeness of the pics. It's kind of hard for me to get a wide underneath shot of a long object that's only a few inches off the ground.

How big of a hassle would it be to move it to that groove though? Doing that would take care of all the problems the air dam/deflector is causing, but I don't know what would be involved with doing that.

Thanks for the help guys.
