Was this an optional 1969 spoiler?

Hey Guys.

Nothing too important here. Was just doing some research on 1969 Mach's (mainly for my dad - see previous post), cross-checking production numbers and such, when I came across this one site. At the top of the page it has a picture of a 69' Mach. It didn't strike me at first, I think on the 2nd or 3rd visit I noticed it... but look at that rear spoiler.

Now... maybe its just the angle of the picture, but that surely does not look like anything I've seen before. Right? It could just be that the spoiler itself is angled very sharply up... I'm just looking for a second opinion.

Here's the link: http://www.1969stang.com/prodnumbers.html

looks like somone added one of those mini california whale tails on it to me. definately not a factory spoiler, kinda cool though, never seen another one like it, and surprisingly it is rather sharp looking on that car

Yeah I thought that spoiler looked a little suspicious. I have never seen a classic mustang either in person or in picture with that wing. Good to know I'm not the only one! I know at one point Ford offered an option called the "Spoiler II", so I was thinking possibly that was it.

Now these "mini" California wings you were talking about bnickel, were they around back in the late 60s/70s, or are they a rather new invention? I'm assuming they bolt up to the factory's spoiler holes. Just curious. Thanks!

probabaly more like late 70's-early 80's and they did not bolt in in the factoey location you had to drill holes for it, you could get them lot's of different places, JC Whitney is one place that comes to mind but there were many others. i still think that one looks kind of cool on there but it could just be the angle of the pic too, might look like crap in person
