I've hooked up a kit before. It won't help you unless you are trying to overcome the lack of octane in your fuel for an engine with a lot of boost, nitrous, compression etc.
What are you trying to do? A mild N/A car doesnt need it. Also a "mechanic" unless he is into the aftermarket performance world, or tuning, wouldnt be who I would ask about this kind of stuff.
My friend's car picked up 19 rwhp with it on an 02 GT with a built motor, Vortech S Trim, no intercooler, of course it picked up with tuning. The big difference was, the car couldnt make a complete 4th gear dyno pass without pulling timing, a full 2-4 or 1-4 gear pull would = massive heat soak and power loss. Now the IAT's actually got cooler as the dyno pull went on with a 50/50 meth/water dual nozzle setup from AIS.
well, my mechanic builds and races imca modified dirt cars, builds drag cars, has his own performance shop....so i think hes a pretty good person to ask...
Fine and dandy, just alot of people say "their mechanic" and it's some tech from a dealer/regular type shop (which can be good, just alot of them dont get into the performance side of things)
Your post was vague anyway, what are you trying to do?
im trying to buy a new transmission and im looking at the D&D add because they are knoocking off some dollars because i already went and bought the bellhousing to do a 302/T-56 swap and on the other page is an add for methanol/water injection and i remember my dad telling me that they used to run that back in the day..i was simply just asking you guys what you think about the idea....
my real question that i need input on is my transmission, go through D&D or Jegs/Steeda...either way they are both Tremec tranny's and price difference is only $250 at most...
