Water Pump install with no gasket

Has anyone tried a water pump install with no gasket and just RTV?
I'm having a hard time locating one here and I am getting pissed. I figured it would be something simple to do and I can't find one here at all. I don't want to wait until Monday to get one from Ford so I want to try it with no gasket. Is this possible? I have heard of people doing that with the thermostat. Damn I want to hear my car roar again, hopefully tomorrow!

My mechanic mentor works at an import shop and is all about Japanese engines and how "tight" they are built so he never uses gaskets.....well when he helped me along with my HCI I made him use them in conjuction with RTV.....well last week some kid dropped off his mustang with a Crate engine (explorer) and he built is and dropped it in and basically used just RTV on the whole thing.......well 2 days ago he gets a call from another shop saying the guy brought the car in and it had several leaks including the WP.....He was pretty upset and it just made him even more of an import fan

Autozone, addvanced auto, pepboys....they dont have them in stock? Thats where I got mine. I got the whole front of the engine gasket set made by fel-pro from autozone for like 15 bucks.

I went to Advanced and they gave me the one the computer said and it was wrong. I went to Pep and they told me they don't carry them for the WP. I went to Auto Zone they want to order it for me and it will be Tuesday. I went to Car Quest no go as well as NAPA (no stock). I will either have to wait or buy a wp and return it less the gasket.

Go back and ask for a 5.0 explorer (95-01) water pump gasket... That should do the trick...

Edit: On second thought call and see if they have one in stock... Gas is too expencive right now!!!
