water pump leak/hole

I am leaking coolant from a small hole on the underside of the water pump. Is this supposed to happen? will it seal once it has been ran? and what is the hole for? The engine has never been started and its a brand new water pump?

That is telling you that the water pump needs to be replaced. ASAP

That's the weep hole to show the bearing seal failed..
