Waterpump gasket leaking, should I just replace the pump while it's off?

Considering that it'll go out eventually, like everything else seems to, does it seem prudent to go ahead and get a new one now? I'm also wondering whether or not I should get a new timing chain assembly, or do the stockers tend to be good for a long time?

I'm going to replace the balancer at the same time, also.

eh if its not broke don't fix it. a gasket is cheaper than a new peice of hardwear. an depending on the age of our engine really necessitates its removal/replacement.

bad thing is the bolts that attach to the timing cover housing have a bad habbit of seizing up when age gets to these engines. thing is you don't know untill somthin goes wrong an ya have to pull it. when my balancer went out, it took out my water pump as well. got down to it, started to pull the waterpump an it had seized to the timing cover. my water pump job had climbed into a /water pump timing chain/ gear job.

A new water pump isn't that expensive. I think Ford Racing just released an aftermarket one for our cars that only costs like $50. I'd go ahead and pick one up. That way if it does go out, its just one less time you have to tear everything apart.
