I need a new waterpump and wanted some opinions on which might be the best for my application. What do some of you guys run? I don't drive it much, do some drag racing and some occasional backroad blasts.

I've got an aluminum radiator and other mods as you can see in my sig. I'm thinking a high volume pump and a high volume 180 degree thermostat. I've looked at the Edelbrock, Miloden, Summit and some other high volume pumps. I'm not buying another reman POS with a useless "lifetime warranty". Stupid thing lasted 6 years and 1000 or so miles. I like driving it, not working on it, tired of cheap crap.

Thanks

Mike

Just buy an OEM, it will last a long time...

www.buyfordracing.com has some nice replacements for 'cheap'...

No problems with mine...

You don't need a high volume water pump...

180* t-stat is fine...

Agreed.

When you do the stat, go with a high perf unit (Mr Gasket, R. Shaw, et al). They are balanced which is cool (hysteresis concerns), open fully sooner and have jiggle valves. Well worth the extra couple bucks.

Good luck.

That's what I'm talking about, a good hi flow pump and a good hi flow t-stat. The better pumps offer a higher flow at idle - which is where my car gets really grouchy and hot, especially in the staging lanes and after a run and cruising - better bearings and seals and I don't mind paying a little more for a better longer lasting pump. Honestly, I really don't want to do the work for another "OEM" pump. I've done 3 and the last one was a "new" OEM pump with a "lifetime" warranty (I found the receipt)

Do NOT buy a Millidon. I had one and it will not flow enough at idle. I had the typical problem of getting hot at a stop light and everything pointed at the fan. I bought an aluminium radiator beforehand so I knew it wasn't that. I had the original fan and clutch which I thought was the issue so I put in an 4000+ cfm electric fan from a viper... same problem. I swapped water pumps to a Stewarts and the problem is solved. I highly recommend the stewarts or the edelbrock. Both are great.
