Hey guys, I was wondering what wax everyone likes to use on black or true blue? I've been using meguairs lately, the last time I waxed it I hurried and now I have swirl marks. What do you guys do you get those off? I also have a mach 1 hood and shaker, should I ever wax the shaker? It's flat black I would need a certain wax for that wouldn't I?

And I want to buy a buffer, I keep hearing about an orbital and some other, which brand should I get?

Not sure I would imagine you need a wax that doesn't stain, Nattys does NOT stain

It's a pain to clean. It has water spots all over it, I usually take a damp towell and wipe it off. But it doesn't look as good as it used to.

Pennywise, I tried that meguiars gold class, it works great. I really liked it. Thanks!

Gold Class is just a name for "same product, more money"

If you are looking for professional body shop quality products, you can't find them in an autoparts store.

Think about this, does Pep Boys carry Bassani or MAC products? No, they carry APC and Streetglow.

For black paints, I use Meguiar's #82 Swirl Free Polish, but I've heard Klasse AIO is better for black and dark colors

Klasse AIO is not meant to be a stand alone product. It more of a paint cleaner with a bit of an acrylic polish, it does however make an exellent base for your last step product (wax/selant).

Can anyone go into more detail about waxing and polishing? I hear about all these different waxes and I'm not really sure about them. Like Klasse AIO and using a sealant after.

What kind of cloth were you using to wax? Definitely stick with microfibre all the way... I've never had swirl marks or any other minute scratch marks from using them, regardless of the wax. Good luck

3m Rubbing Compund and glaze

As I've seen first hand this actually works amazingly. Hit it with some( At 11 bucks a bottle, "USE SPARINGLY" comes to mind) 3M Rubbing compound to get the swirls off, and then coat with a tiny amount of 3M Hand Glaze. Not only will this alleviate the swirl marks, this will get rid of clear coat scratches and make it look like glass.

If you love your car you will stick with meguiars everything. I use Gold Class on my car. Im about to give the new NXT paste wax a try by meguairs ill let you know how that works. As for swirl marks you need to remove the wax. Some people was with say dawn soap then clay bar the car clean with Meguairs car wash then wax again.

i like the 3m hand glaze i use it between waxes and i dont get any swirl marks with it. but its like a wax cuz u have to use it in the shade otherwise u will get swirl marks. as for the water spots u mentioned try hosing ur car down without any nozzle after u wash it. just let ur wax do the work nd the water should run off ur car pretty well. idk if uve tried that its a pretty old trick but itl def decrease ur water stains if u havent

Glazes usually don't offer any protection. Be sure to throw a coat of pure wax -- carnauba or synthetic.

I like the Meg's line myself. As for a buffer, you'd be better off with a Polisher. Buffers can burn the paint if you are not careful, a true polisher will not. Meguiars has one they sell, it's the same as a Porter Cable (made by porter cable), but it carries a lifetime warrentee. Always use microfiber towels, but if you drop it, stop using it and put it int he "to wash" pile-EVERYTHING sticks to the MF towels, and the stuff stuck to it can and will scratch paint.

Polish "feeds" the paint-restores oils to it. Wax protects the paint-it adds a thin layer between the enviroment and the paint. Polish does not protect the paint, so polish then wax for the best effect. Use a paint cleaner/claybar first to remove any old wax or surface contaminents and gt an even better result.

Lately, I've been switching to all Meguiar's products...

Using Megs #83 Dual Action Cleaner/Polish for heavy swirls and water spots with a wolfgang yellow cutting pad

or Megs #80 Speed Glaze with the same pad

then I use the Megs #83 Swirl Free Polish with a white polishing pad.

Then finish off with Megs NXT with a black finishing pad.

If you really want to take good care of your paint. Buy a Porter Cable 7424.

From that you can hone your skills to possibly jump to a rotary (if you know what you're doing)

either Makita, Dewalt or (if you have the money) Dynabrade

I use Klasse AOI followed by P21S pure carnuba. It looks freakin awesome. Get complements all the time and people don't belive my car is 4 years old daily driver and sees new england winters. See my garaage pics.

Klasse and P21S are expensive, but a little goes a long ways so it'll last for a couple of seasons at least. Make sure you get the highest quality applicators and microfiber towels you can.

Also USE A CLAYBAR -- it makes a HUGE difference in your paint.

Make surer you read this -- it will change how you think about your wash and wax process.
