hi to all, this wed at englishtown raceway pk. it is settled. my friends 03 350z, 6spd toruing edition, bone stock vs my 03 gt vert auto w.410's and mac catback, 315 35/17's and k&n. what do you all think, i figure if i can get a good no wheelspin launch, i might outlast him till end of 1/4. all input welcome...thanks

Well my friend has the same car and mine is similar to yours. From a roll he has a tiny advantage, but I have significant advantage on launch. He'll trap higher than you, and like you said you need a great 60ft to win. Drivers race, but I think if the Z was well driven it is the faster car.

The Z has the advantage due to 2 major factors, stock auto + vert. Although, 4.10's and some dr's make up for a good amount of that. If you can take him off the line, hopefully you can hold him off til you cross the line but, he'll be reeling you in.

Its funny this should come up now, as I was just about to post a question about a 350z I saw. What is a Fairlady Z? I was cut off by one getting off the freeway today on the way to work. I revved at him and called him a few choice explitives. When he pulled away I thought it was going to be go time, but he pulled into a parking lot so nothing happened. Is this car faster than a normal Z in some way? Should I fear this Z more than a normal Z?

Thanks

Fairlady was the name given to the z-car outside the US. US marketing guys didn't think the name was very sporty sounding so they changed it to 240z. Most people refer to right hand drive z's as fairlady z's

All the above about Fairladys is true and I also believe that the last generation of 300ZX (1990-96) did have a fairlady badged model toward it's demise. I think it was in 1996 as like a last year type of thing or special edition but performance wise it was a plain ole 300XZ (i'm pretty sure non-turbo too).

But yeah, if it was a newer 350Z with "Fairlady" badging, just call him a *** and move on. It's just a fanboy that wants to indentify with enthusiasts as sort of a lingo that they might only know or something. Like civics with Si-R canadian badging or some crap like that. I think they like it because it makes normal people go "What-the! I didn't know they made that model!"

Um it will be close, but what do you mean no wheel spin launch? You have freekin 315s LOL almost the size of viper tires...I would be surprised if you could spin them at all LOL.No matter you still should cut some 2.0s or maybe 1.9s with those tires. You should get him most of the way but he may come around you at the VERY end.

sorry, man, but from one '03 auto vert owner to the next, you're probably goin :notnice:. The auto is just too much of a pig, not to mention the weight you (and I) added with the 315's. Cut a good light and hope for the best, bud.
