WED.'s the day, 350z vs. 03 gt vert at track, who wins?

yeah, well all i can do is try, i figure he'll have to shift perfectly to beat me, he ran a best of 14.56 @99mph last time he ran the car. i was running my vette so it was no contest as i ran a 12.50 @117 against him. so i figure if he misses just a little in shifting, i got him, we shall see, temps look to be in the low 60's to high 50's, low humidity. i'll keep you all posted....

I race my cousins 350Z every week at the track. His all time best is 14.0 at 103 where as my best is 14.1 at 100. Out of 10 runs I might beat him across the line 3 times. I do much better against him on colder nights as our 4.6's are affect by heat a lot more than the Z's engine. Mid summer I'm running 14.5 where as he's running 14.2's. They do have wheel hop issues so if your friend over revs off the start, that will be your chance to go. He will definately be gaining on you at the end. Good luck.

Well, good luck to you cause the 350's are fast stock, at least a 14.0@99 in the 1/4. Ive experimented with my shift points with the programmer and found that the 1-2 shift works best at 5800rpm, 2-3 at 5700 and 3-4 at 5800. It keeps the car in the pwrband betwn shifts and reduced my 1/4 from a 14.0 to a best of 13.8. If you have a chip with preset shift points call the mftr and see where its shifting at cause u dont want your car to be "floating" btwn shifts. I mean dont want the car to be redlining and revving too long.

not familiar with an sct flasher, where can i get one and what shift points are optimum for best 1/4 mile time. right now my car chirps first and hits third pretty firmly too.

ok, good deal, come on by and say hi, i'll be with a group that will have a a 2002 cobra vert/blue, a bullitt , a 98 white vette and my 03 white vert. look forward to seeing you and seeing the finish line first. :nice:

I thought that there were no Cobras in 2002  Maybe Im getting the year wrong.

Don't know about at the drag strip, but a month or so ago I followed one onto the onramp of Interstate 80, he hammered it and a split second later I did the same. We where almost dead even, each of us hitting the same gears at almost the exact same time, up to the top of 4th at 125 mph and I let off the gas. He let off right after I did. I pulled up next to him at 70 mph and he gave me the thumbs up and I returned it. It was fun as hell.

I remeber getting toasted by one on the freeway about a year ago. If there is one thing I dont like about the 4.10's its: once your going like 80 or 90 mph your kind of stuck in 5th gear. I guess you could drop down to 4th but Im not sure it would be in it long enuff to help.Im not affraid of too many cars from a dig, but I have real hard time dealing with cars that want to go from 90 mph. Most cars seem to have a lot more gear left at those speeds. Thats the trade off I guess.
