Well I didn't have anything going on this weekend and since my car did a good job at the track I thought I treat it with something nice. LOL

On the 03/04 Cobra rim the back/inside of the rim is painted with silver for some reason. I guess its so you can be lazy and not have to worry about cleaning it.

Looks like this:

This is not my pic but someone else did this too. For some reason my camera didn't take any good shots of the inside.

Well after about 3.5 hours later my rims looked like this:

I think it looks 10x better even though if you really weren't paying attention you would prolly never notice the difference.

Also snapped a few pics of the GT and Shelby:

i was trying to find a post where someone had done this a while back, thanks so much for bringing it back and doing it yourself. How long do you leave the the aircraft remover on the rim and how do you get it off? Just water? Sorry if this is common knowledge and a simple project...

dammit son, that looks good as hell!! what did you use to remove the paint from the inside of the wheels with????

Im gonna do that to mine.

Aircraft Remover which is in the first pic. Its pretty nasty stuff so you need to get gloves and some eyewear when using it. Pretty much everything in the first pic is what you need.

I just applied it with a paint brush doing a small section at a time. You need to work it in swirling the brush in all directions. A lot of people told me to leave it on for a few minutes but I wiped it off almost immediately with good results. You can tell when the paint is lifted.

I filled up a bucket with water and some carwash soap and used that with a scotch-brite pad to wipe it off. If there was any small bits of the paint still on, I used some 0000 Steel Wool. Then used the wool over the whole inside to give it a final clean up.

When the inside was all cleaned up I used a chrome rim cleaner (I use Black Magic) over the whole rim, inside and out. After that’s all clean I applied a coat of chrome polish over the entire rim.

I bought the 03 Chrome Cobras from AM. I wanted to know if your wheels were replicas or not, and if it will work the same.

Mine are the real deal 03/04 Rims, off a 04 Comp Orange Cobra to be exact.

I have no idea about the replicas, I would just call AM or whatever company that made them and ask them. I think I remember someone saying there isn't chrome under the replicas but I may be wrong.
