Just bought a 94 supercharged vert, what are some the best weight reduction tips? Are they pretty much the same for the foxbody or way different, I know it already ways at least 400 more than a fox so just checking for some advice thanks!

I did that three times and put it back in 3 times after noticeable vibration..o well.

My changes? Removed the spare and jack, lug wench and board from trunk and replace with a can of fix o flat. Remove the vert top motor and hydraulics, a/ccompressor, lines and condensor, smog pump, egr (still weights something lol), strut tower bar, old heavy cats replaced with new true high flow lighter ones, 50 pound lighter aluminum heads. Total = about 175-180# give or take ...

The speakers and radio weight very little, you could remove them though. Let's see what else..

O' yea, remove rear seats (about 40#), dog ring metal thingy under rear (7 pounds), go to dumps ( I have heard 20#), seat motors(?), center console(not worth it), entire top apparatus ( Me thinks 100+#), get a new lightweight k-member and a arms..80#?

Sure stanger007, the car had more "cowl" which is side to side shakiness in the window and "A" pillars without it. I notice that kind of stuff and it annoyed me. After putting the weight back in, all gone. I did it 3 times b4 I could convince myself it wasn't all in my head. Now car rides real solid again. I had subframes the whole time. One thing ford does not get much credit for on these forums is the solid construction of the car compared to camaro verts. Big difference.

Well pulled a bunch of crap outta the trunk and the strut tower is off kinda feels peppier now ive got another problem it seems. In traffic/with a/c on full blast my temp progressively gets to the L not any higher yet but i wanna fic this before something bad happens, ive got good flow from thermostat opening up top hose is hot,but everything is stock in there i.e. radiator etc. would a becool radiator be worth the money or do you all now some tricks? thanks alot. Bobby p.s. its like 115 out here but it heats up even at night when its still 100 out

I had the same problem w/ my underdriven waterpump in Louisiana heat. Ended up dropping in a 180 degree thermostat, upgrading to a Stewart waterpump and lowering my fan settings in the ECU. Not that the stock gauge is anything to write home about but to give you an idea since you mention your stock gauge, it took it from riding on the "AL" to "NO". This translates to running between 180 and 195 no matter how hard I get on it.

On another, related note, I pulled the 25lb weight and didn't notice any cowl shake - I'm picky about that sort of thing too but didn't notice a bit of a difference. I took some pictures of the process and will post them up tonite.

Free:
Spare + jack
Crap fenderwell weight
Dogbone under dif.
A/C
Smog

A bit of $$
Power seats out
rear seats deleted
O/R H pipe

A lot of $$
Tubular K member
03 cobra A arms
Coil Over setup
Alum heads

Should be around 300 pounds off...but would probably cost $3000 or so

Alright thanks ima get to that weight tomorrow morning, it always gets frickin hot when ive got the a/c i sold my last vert because of overhaeting problems haha well this ones not as bad so thank heaven, Now another question this thing is already dyno tuned to the specific application so if i put an or h on it and get different mufflers will that mess with the computers and tune at all or is mainly big add ons like heads cam etc? thank you alot.

Changing the midpipe or catback won't throw your car's tune off - swapping out the headers (i.e. going to longtubes) could because it moves the O2's farther away from their stock location.

However, what I'm learning with the twEECer is that everything in your car works together as one big system, so if you're opening up the exhaust you are changing how the entire system works and your tune will be 100% correct anymore. (assuming it was "perfect" to begin with) That's where the adaptive strategy comes into play though... it will learn and make adjustments (up to a certain point).

My 2c,
Wes

Cool thanks again for all the help, where is the dogbone i hear about, and is it worth removing? Also, like i was saying about pipes earlier what do straight pipes on these cars sound like? Ive got shorties highflow hpipe now but im thinking of running sidepipes. The only prob is noone wants to do em with the flowmasters for some weird reason theyll only weld straightpipes, does it sound like a pos? or decent?( i know its loud as hell but is it raspy as hell too!) thanks for all the help.
