weight reduction...

First let me say everyone has their own limit on what they see as a justifiable weight reduction. A fatboy, like myself, knows that we worked hard to get this size and spent a ton of money on some Good eatin'. We didn't do that for nothin'. So while we may lose some of it, reluctantly, I might add, we still have to reduce weight where we can. And seriously like I said everyone has a limit on what they think is okay to lose for weight and that is cool. Some of the things I would't do but I'm not going to knock them. I say lose everything you can and it all counts but when I look at it, I don't want to touch the interior, a/c among other thigs.

I don't agree with all the info posted here and agree with some but will add my .02 on it and no flame is intended.


40- side impact beams in doors
- I cut out the crash bars in my Coupe and was not a happy camper when I felt how light they were. Maybe the beams in the 94-95 are heavier but I doubt it.

10- strut tower brace
- I was actually amazed how light this was. I didn't weigh it but would guess about 5 lbs or maybe even less

if u have a notch....u can cut the X-bracing out of the decklid
- I did this on my coupe as well. Not really heavy but every ounce counts!!

rear spoiler weighs 11 pounds
- I will be doing this when I get the cash to repaint the decklid

Stock pulley's - aftermarket steel - aftermarket aluminum
- I have the asp steel pulleys. What type of weight savings did you see on them and the aluminum ones over stock?

Some people worry too much about taking out a pound here or there when there is an easy 40lb or 50lbs they can take off by doing one thing...a DIET
- A pound here and there adds up to ET!
- Nope I worked hard for my gut thankyouverymuch!!

Also, get rid of the fog lights and bracketry if you got them.
- I did this on my 93 GT and couldn't believe the weight on those little brackets. I will be doing this too.

Please post more weight reduction items.
I remember the engine puller brackets on the motor on my fox bodies werent real heavy but combined with other misc. brackets it added up.

What does the Flaming River rack save? I know it's around here somewhere. There must be a gazillion pounds strapped to the front of that engine.

LOL yeah i'm overweight too and that just gives me MORE reason to do weight reduction. I'm not gonna work out hours a day and almost die just to save a tenth of a second hehe.

BTW does most of this apply to Foxes also?
