Alright, I have a convertible and I know they're a bit heavier than a coupe. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to lighten the car. From what I remember you can shave off one tenth for every one hundred pounds off our cars? I already took the back seats out but are there any other things that I can remove while keeping the car practical?

Clean out your ashtray.
Vacuum everything.
Clean out the glove box.
Aluminum parts.
Verts have lead weight in the bumper.
Go on a diet.
No passengers.

The car's clean.
Only regestration is in the box.
Most of the stuff is aluminum.
The lead weights have to be there for a reason.
I'm not fat, I'm big boned.
I have no friends. :(

There's a 25lb fender weight above the dpassenger side foglight that is useless. There's an 8lb dogbone weight under (or above, don't remember) the differential that is useless if you have new gears. You can also take out your passenger front seat, it weighs around 40 lbs. Take out your spare tire and jack, and gut everything else in the trunk. You can remove your front sway bar for the track (helps with weight transfer more than anything else). That's all I can think of for now without getting extreme.

Lol. This is the second time I took that weight out. Now I am gonna put it BACK IN again. Car shakes like it's loose and that's with sub-frames. Makes a big difference in quality of drive feel to me.

You are the ONLY person I have ever read about that noticed any negative effects after removing it. There have been a TON and I mean a TON of 'vert owners that have removed it without a single problem. I say yank it! I yanked mine back in '98 and never noticed a problem.

Ok, Killercanary, I found someone else on the Corral, lol...

i pulled mine off. when i'm driving on the freeway, my cobra R hood vibrates quite a bit in the rear cowl area - enough that i worked one of my hood hinge bolts loose and dropped off somewhere. i don't remember my previous cobra R hood bouncing that much when i had that weight still in there.

I noticed it more in the hood and in general vibration. I know y'all think me cooko!! It all depends on your sensitivity to it I guess. I am putting mine back on and then taking out the A/c. Hey, anyone taken out the anti-lock brakes? I wonder how much weight that s?? I bet ALOT!!

Definitely going to do that. I am still wondering if anyone has ever taken out there ABS and how much it weights? My car is a third car and me no drivee in bad weather anyway. I am going to bet we are looking at a good 40 pounds from that.
