Weird **** Last Night

Speaking of entrapment, the cops here seized a 94 GT from a drug house bust. It's got a blower of some sort(I can hear the whine), some Steeda U/L wheels, flows, etc...

Anyway some deuchebag deputy drives it as his cruiser now, and when he first got it, nobody knew a cop was driving it. He would get poor highschool kids to race him and then arrest them for street racing

I know street racing is illegal, but that is complete BS. I was at a cruise-in a couple weeks ago, and he pulled up and parked. He came over to my car not too long after and attempted to strike up a conversation, so I asked him if it was true if he tricked kids into racing his "cruiser"...he didn't answer, just said "street racing is illegal." and went on his way to talk to some old guy.

Thats not entrapment that just being sneaky.....Entrapment would be having one of those high school kids working with the cops trying to catch people racing and then they turn around and arrest him for it.

Heh. I have a story close to this.

One night i was on a fairly deserted street, when i come alongside a red vette. Knowing i would lose, i was bored, i got beside and paced beside them.

I took it out of OD.

I kind would hit the gas here and there giving some revs seeing if they would bite, but nothing so i let it go.

At the next light, the car pulls beside me (I was turning left) with the window down, and it is an officer in full uniform. I roll down my window and he asks me if i was trying to race and why i downshifted. I told him i cant downshift, sir, i have no gears. So it was awkward then and i randomly asked him about a lingenfelter corvette to change the subject. I pulled off and he said "Night 5.0"

It was scary but a funny story later.

I know cops and they definately have sports cars that they have seized and they use them to bait people to race.As far as entrapment forget it the cop in the sports car gets you to race while his buddies are hiding out somewhere usually behind you a good distance. When you start racing the cop behind you pulls you over and the cop in the sports car just keeps driving looking for his next victim.Unless you can afford a high price lawyer who can prove whats goin on you r not gonna beat the rap.In New York where i work they do it all the time and when you get caught street racing in New York the take your car FOREVER!!!!They use for a trap car for a little while and then auction it off for money.Best bet is dont street race unless you know the other person and even then your taking great risk's to your car and health.

:owned: .haha ALWAYS check to see if the camaro next to you is a cop in NC.

True to that. Camaro smokies are everywhere here. Also on top of the Vics and Impala's, watch out for the black '71 Stingray, (year?) black 300Z TT, Jeep Cherokee's (everywhere in the mountains), Dodge Durango's, and BMW bikes. Supposedly, one of our local towns even has a late model Supra TT.... but I HAVE YET to confirm that one. I wouldn't doubt it, though. We even have a red late '80's Dodge dually truck that is used at speed traps. No joke around here.....

I agree. A few of my friends are cops and swat team. They are the coolest guys. Two of my cop friends have 03 cobras too. Dont let one bad cop give them all a bad name.

Dont blame the cops, their doing the right thing.Street racing is illegal and dangerous. It's unsafe for yourself and the general public.Cops are the ones that have to respond when street racing goes bad and people are all busted up and bleeding and stuff like that.So when they see people racing those are the kinda thoughts goin through their heads.99% of cops are cool and just like us.They are not bustin street racers for fun their doin it to keep the public safe like the minivan full of kids with mom driving that pulls in front of a race by accident to the driver thats racing!!!!!

I have seen vics, impalas, intrepids, camaros, durangos, cherokees, bikes, and even a local sheriff with a 98 GT, and our local sheriff also has a chevy 2500 HD, and believe it or not, a dodge minivan, but where in NC are the 71 stingray, 300Z, and supra?

ok how about this. i kno a local guy that talked to an owner of a 93 SSP. they got to talkin and on the way home he saw the SSP on the road so he caught up and tried to race him. the guy told him to pul over and tried to get a black and white to them because the owner of the SSP was a real off-duty cop. real d***

Its not entrapment if you CHOOSE to step on the gas or race thecar next to you. It was your choice, and the cop did not do anything to influence your decision, or to coerce you to race. The officer did not step on your right foot. Entrapment is coercing or threatening an individual to commit crimes they normally would not have considered in the first place, and then arresting them for it. Law enforcement can present a tempting situation, such as an attractive cop posing as a hooker, or a detective posing as a teenage girl online to lure pedophiles. If you choose to take an action, the law feels you should be adult enough to live with the consequences. PERIOD. I agree. A woman and her 4 year old daughter were just killed here about 3 days ago when one of a pair of cars street racing sideswiped her and forced her into oncoming traffic. What was left of her Grand Prix GT could fit in the bed of my pickup.

Choice is irrelevant. It depends upon who initiates the behavior. Street racing is a little iffy, but a good entrapment case could easily be made in almost every example given here. Police can set out "bait" but cannot initiate contact. Take the prostitute, for example. They can walk around until someone approaches them, but the second they approach someone to makes their "sales pitch" it becomes entrapment. Sting operations have to be setup very carefully with knowledgable officers who know how to play by the rules, or they result in nothing but failure and wasted money. Not to mention the utter stupidity of cops getting into street races to bust "racers." That just seems like a totally unnecesary risk to public safety.

Kevin R - Hahaha that is a crazy crazy story dude. I'd piss my pants if I tried to race a vette then later at the redlight found out it was a cop, lol.

It's crazy with the amount of racing around my area I'm surprised that i've never heard or seen any of the cops try to do that stuff around here. I live near cecil county dragway in maryland. Here in newark, de though there are tons of racers always coming to meet from the tri-state area. I'll always keep my eyes out though, even though I barely street race. I might catch a race here and there sometimes but nothing extreme.
