I Have an 88 coupe 5.0 and my problem is that when I turn on my car it idles fine for about a minute than it starts to idle low for about 30 sec then it dies. If I try to press the gas so it wont die it pops and it sounds like its missing. If I hold it at about 2,000 rpms the rpms go down slowly by itself with the gas pedal still press. Then once it gets down below 1,000 rpms it shoots back up. When ever I drive it surges and it pops constanly out the intake when i'm in any gear, around 1,500 to 3,000 rpms, but when I floor it it stops. It does it while its cold but when it gets warmer it does it every once in a while. It just started doing that about two days ago. Before it used to do it all the time. I converted it to Mass Air about 2 weeks ago and it had done that before but not that often, only when it got hot. Has anyone else had this problem??? Thanks in advance. Sorry for being so long.

Have you messed with the TPS sensor at all?? I would check voltage at the sensor, maybe its off should be like .95 - .98 under 1.00.. Also check and make sure the IAC solenoid isn't clogged up with carbon, maybe try cleaning it out a little

i had the same problem. change your o2 sensors, and maf. make sure you check that maf sensor. that its not clogged with dirt that the sensor is clean. even check the plug where the harness plugs in . make sure that all the pins are straight and clean. you;ll be surprised what a little dirt will do to connections. make sure the sensor is facing the right way also. i've done that genuis move once.

Pull the codes first. Get a Haynes manual and it will show you how to do it cheap. It even provides the very same diagram that I have been posting, but I dont think its easy for most folks to use without the text that goes with it. You really need to have these codes before buying any parts, or you are wasting $. The book will pay for itself many times over so dont delay.
