I drove my car to my first car show of the year a couple Saturday's ago and had a great time except for a weird problem. The drive to the show was about 45 minutes and when I got there the oil pressure was 50+ psi and the water temp was steady at 190ish. I pulled into line with the other cars checking in and decided to turn the car off.
I sat there for about a minute and the line started to move. I tried to start the car and it would not start. It would crank and I heard the electric pump come on. I thought perhaps this is the first negative sign of having a nonvented gas cap so I went to the back of the car and took it off. I did not hear any pressure relifed from the tank. I checked the oil wired and it was on. I thought "Great, go to a car show and get towed home. Home embarresing."
I pushed the car over to the side of the line and by the time I got done with that I tried it one more time and she fired up and ran like a charm. Recently I had to take the electic water pump off and put on a new gasket. I thought that maybe I have an air pocket in the engine somewhere. Later that night, after I was home and the car cooled off I pulled my radiator cap off only to find the fluid level right where I left it, about 1.5" from the top.
After talking with some other guys on another site I thought it may be a TFI module. After looking at the prices of those I decided to pony up and get a MSD distributor. It ran just fine but when I came home this evening the car did the same thing. I turned it off before I pulled it into the garage and then tried to start it and it had the same symptoms as before. Any ideas where I should look at this point.
The whole electical system (MSD Coil, BTM, 6AL) all have less than 1000 miles on them.
