Weird Ticking Under Load

Well under load I have this engine ticking which does not sound like detonation to me. Or it doesn't sound like any detonation I have ever heard. It sounds more like an exhaust leakand it is stock exhaust other than catback, except for the fact it is only at WOT and from about 2500-5000 and from 5000+ you cannot hear it. The car recently had new injectors and a mass air meter put on it. Would something from this cause it? I am wondering if one of the injectors may not be putting out enough, anyway to check that? Could it be the lifters only at a certain load? Because when I did my H/C/I I never replaced them.

94 Mustang GT
Trickflow H/C/I
80MM Pro-M
24Lb Ford Racing Injectors (Got Used)
Flowmaster Exhaust

Try driving slow (30ish) in 4th gear and floor it - if you don't hear the noise get louder you can rule out an exhaust leak. If it was a lifter/spring you'd most likely hear it at idle too. With a recent mass air meter install (tube too I assume), check to make sure the hose clamps are on tight but not tight enough to distort the hose.

Well I tried my other mass air meter and it is the same problem with both.

I was talking about the hoses, not the meter itself. Did you try chugging your engine in 4th gear and seeing if the noise gets louder? That will at least tell you if it's an exhaust issue. That's all I can think of right now, someone else will probably be by with some more ideas.

I would think a lifter ticking. If you have high mileage I have a trick I do on my old 1990 F-450 with a 460. With about 20 miles left before I change the oil I put in about a half a quart of Marvel Mystery oil and drive it the last 20 miles. It will clean the gunk off of your lifters which I cannot believe you didn't replace  . then change the oil and see of that helps. It is not everyones choice to do but it has worked well for me when that damn lifter goes flat.
