Weld-in o2 bung

Where should i locate the bung for a wideband o2 sensor? Im thinking in the passenger side pipe just after the X. Is this a good/bad spot? where have you guys put yours?
im planning on having the local muffler guys put it on.
Also are all o2 bungs universal(same thread/pitch)?
Any other tips? jus checking thanks

Since no one else is answering, do a search. I think I saw some posts discussing that I few weeks ago. Seems like others were saying it should be located up closer to the headers, but I could be wrong cause I wasnt reading it too closely, just browsing through.

the only reason i was thinking of putting it after the X was to read both banks, but if im not tuning individual cylinders does it matter??

I like to go in the driver's side, read the manual for your particular wideband and they will give you the preferred distance from the exhaust port - usually a couple feet and around 12 o'clock.

i have mine in the long tubes right before the collector, opposit side as where the OEM sensor is

You need to have it fairly close to heat up the sensor. Also like said just make sure to mount it from 9-12-3 o'clock mounting it lower tends to get water to sit on/around the sensor that will shorten the life/break the sensor.

And before any CATS. Close to the exhaust manifold is not recommended. IIRC the WB O2s are internally heated. High EGT's will kill these sensors that's why they should not be located in the NB bungs.

Yes, before the cats. IIRC it is like 26in. from the exh. ports of the heads.

High temps will hurt them but that temp is more an issue with Turbo cars due to the heat they put out (Innovate makes a heat sink for this as well). The avg. n/a, belt driven charger, n2o will be fine. They are internally heated but need the engine heat to keep them at that temp. I think the internal heater is to help get them to op. temps faster/smoother until they can get heated by the exh.

The goal with the distance given from the exh. port is to get them to heat up in a quick manner but not have them soo close they overheat. Generally close to the stock o2's is a good starting point and just about the distance needed.
