I recently purchased some used Draglites from a guy in my neighborhood. I put them on today and the fron one's (15x7) make this weird crackling sound when I turn. They are not rubbing, I put 1/4 spaces to ensure they would not touch. I believe it is coming from the hub. Any suggestions? What should the torque value be?

are you sure you are using the correct lug nuts? If the shank of the lugnut is too long it will bottom out before the head of the lugnut compresses the metal thingy inside the wheel (on draglite style wheels). This only comes to mind because I just bought draglites and discovered the lugnuts for them were too long, but I never drove it like that.

I had a set of 15x7's on my 88 a few years ago they did the same thing, they popped and cracked when you turned. I had a 98 z71 with aluminum wheels and 35's and they also popped, I think it's an aluminum wheel thing. Right now I have a f-250 with 36's and aluminum wheels and they don't pop, maybe because they are 8 lug I'm not sure, but I did everything I could on the mustang and it never stopped

It's most likely the center caps. Try a strip of electrical tape around the cap, at the base/flange.

If you look inside the lug holes, you'll probably find it's broke on the inside part of the hub. It's kinda like a floating center section sandwiched in there. A friend of mine had that happen with his front welds. He ran them anyway and it didn't hurt anything except noisy. You have to take the wheel off to see where it's broke. You may be able to JB weld it or something.
