well...changing head setup

well..i was coming close to installin my gt40p/edel perf/comp xe274hr setup..but i decided to ditch the irons and go aluminum!!! what heads do you recommend with intake and cam? the cam has a .555/.565 lift and is good from 2200-6200 rpm.....what numbers would i be putting down....i guess i would rather do it right the first time and go aluminum..thanks

Jake, I dont think he's running the 274 cam though.

He also did 299/325 with P heads, cobra intake and an AFM b25 cam

My advice is TW heads (or track heat heads since you'll NEED the better valve springs) and an RPM intake. You will need a 410 gear and I recommend 1 5/8" longtubes and porting the inlet for a 75mm TB

im gonna run the performer intake....i dont wanna change the intake/cam setup i have..i think teh intake would be sufficient to 6000rpm or even more with a little porting...i was gonna use trickflow 6.500" pushrods with the comp cam and p heads...you guys think i can still be able to use these rods??? i read that on most heads with 2.02 valves , you would need to fly cut the pistons or replace pistons but that on these you dont have to with most performance cams....with my lift being high and all, would i need to flycut or replace my pistons????

No, you can NOT use those pushrods. 6.7" should be fine, but never hurts to measure. The rpm is the better choice for what you listed you want, but the performer is good as well. That cam should fit fine, but again, never hurts to check. Peak lift is nothing as the piston is at the bottom of the bore (i believe) when that occurs. I HIGHLY recommend a valve spring swap if you use the TW heads or just use the track heats.

if i go with the perfomer, which i already have, will i be losing power over the rpm or will the power band and peak power be lower/higher?

You probably wouldnt make as much upstairs since you had originally said you wanted to make power to 6200. I think youi'll peak at 5500 with the performer. If you already have it, I dunno if its cost effective to swap to an rpm then.

i guess it would be more beneficial switching to an rpm upper.....i wonder if anybody would wanna swap for an rpm upper?...i was gonna go with 373s but since ill be breathing and making more up top with an aluminum head, 410s would be the better choice..what size throttle body would be beneficial with this setup? 70 or 75mm??

75mm TB, no doubt. You're gonna have to port the eddie performer or RPM though, they are setup for 70 off the rack.

I would look into the new eddie heads as well. They are around 1G and flow extremely well. I've only heard good things about them.
