well i figured out where my drivetrain clanking is comming from.

If it goes away as soon as you put the clutch in and doesnt come back until you let it out, I would say its the throwout bearing.

If its getting hard for you to get in gear, check your clutch cable. It could be starting to fray, or something. I had mine go out on the freaking highway. I was in a parking lot and it took forever to get in reverse. Finally got it moving straight and I could barely get it in a gear. Got on the hw and got up to 4th gear slamming the hell out of the gears. Managed to coast into work and pop the hood. The cable looked like someone stuck a stick of dynomite to it lol. Frayed all to crap. If you have an adjustable cable/quadrant, try playing with that and see if it helps.

Its in the bellhousing. They typically go out way before a clutch does. If your tough on the clutch then the TOB is likely your culprit. Typically if you can deal with the noise its no big deal. My factory TOB never really squeaked but I replaced my clutch and all at about 16-18000 miles with a Spec Stage II. My Spec TOB squeaked since day 1 basically. Doesnt bother me. I can just hear a slight squeak/rattle that goes away when I put the clutch in. I just deal with the noise. Ive got almost 60000 on the car now with no issues other that TOB noise. Noisey TOB are very common with our cars.
If you do replace it, I would do a clutch swap at the same time if your still on the stock clutch. Day and night difference in an aftermarket and stock clutch.

I would be much more concerned about it being hard to get in gear. Could be the cable, or worse case a bent or broken fork. I would trouble shoot that first then deal with the TOB issue.

My buddy bullit had the same problem and when we took it apart the sleeve that the through out bearing rides on was worn out. When the peddle is depressed it puts tension on the bearing stopping the noise but when the pedal is out it has clearence in between the bearing and the shaft and thats when you get the noise. It's just thought, take a look.

I would also say it is your throw out bearing. Mine made the clanking sound and I drove it for about a month and ended up braking the imput shaft on the tranny.I would change it ASAP. If your not doing the work yourself this will be expensive because you have longtube headers.I just had my fixed by the shop that works on my car and it cost me a little over 900 just to fix the TOB because I have longtubes.
