Ok guys, i just got my car out of the shop. I had a syncro put in second gear. The guy charged me 350 dollars to put the syncro in and adjust my clutch and all that good stuff. I dont guess it was too bad. My car shifts great through all the gears now. EXCEPT..... IF i pull up somewhere and stop and go to shift into reverse it grinds. It has never done this before. It only does it if i try to shift into reverse real quick after stopping. If i pull it into nuetral then pull it into reverse it doesnt grind that much, really it dont grind at all. What might this be. Could he have to the syncro out of reverse and traded it with the one in second. I love having second gear. I can now bark em through third. Its great. My clutch was real stiff before and now it is smooth. Im glad i went ahead and got this done. Now its time for a short throw shifter and a set of gears. Im thinking of 3.55 because i can fix the speedo with just a speedo gear. I was wondering how much to put gears in. im also going to get a smog pump delete kit from upr and a whiteface gauge and ac from upr. Are these products worth it. IM also getting new spark plugs, wires, and a K & N air filter for my cold air intake.

reverse does not have a syncro. most likely you've just uncovered this "problem" cuz your all jazzed up about your stuff runnin good and have been thrashin on it a bit too hard. if you think it is a legitmate concern take it back.

the grinding reverse is very commmon, i believe you are supposed to hold it in neutral (left of 3rd and 4th gear) for 3-5 seconds, then put it in reverse

YOu jsut have to setop the input of the trans from spinning. stop the car, put in the clutch, shift into any forward gear (or jsut stop in gear) then put it in recverse, no grinding.

IF it is still grinding then your clutch is adjsuted too loose and is not fully disengaging the clutch.

My truck does the former (need to put it in a gear to prevent grindage)...
