Sorry to hear that man, but i guess something good always comes from something bad. You should throw a 5-speed in it while you're at it too!

NO, ive learned my lesson with starting two many project on a car at one time. by the time its back together and running again the summer will already almost be over. i want to enjoy the car for a month or so before its put away for storage. one project at a time. start to many and it wont get finished any time soon.

I'm willing to bet that you drove the balls off your car for quite some time before motor decided to give out. I hate to say it but you asked for it. BTW this is one reason why I am weary of buying cars from younger people.

On the bright side, at least you have the knowledge and resources to build another motor. Good luck with the build and I hope you get it running again soon.

You do realize this is the internet right? Who cares what someone says.

You ought to find a 351 and build a stroker. It'll take you longer but it'll probably be money better spent.

And Ryan, you are one of the boys so we have to give you crap!

But you have to admit, you are quite a bit harder on your Stangs then most of us here. I am sure a short time before the failure you were lighting the hell out of the tires and running it to redline in the first 3 gears.

That has nothing to do with it. **** happens. IMO cars are meant to be driven. Often, and hard. Mine gets hammered almost daily and loves it.

Ryan, I wouldn't waste months of the summer getting carried away with an exploder motor. I would check the compression and stuff to make sure everything is tight, slap it in and hammer down.

Rebuild the whole motor. If it was a milshake, the bearings prolly aren't far from failing now either.

I have seen his videos and such... I would hope ALL of us are as hard on our cars. If not, your wasting what a fox body is good for. Cheapr, easy and loves to take an ass kicking!!!

My brother messed up the bottom end in his car at the track the other day. Needless to say it was still runing, so he went out and finished the race day off. Snagged 2nd place in his class with a hurt motor!

Watch your mouth buddy, dang! If you get offended by someone sayin you drive it like you do, then who are you kiddin? When mine busted the tow truck driver (fellow mustang lover) said, lemme guess, drivin the hell out of it right? HELL YEAH, freakin wont break a rod drivin normal...nor will it blow a headgasket and seize up. Like said before, its what these cars are made for, so be proud, build another and do it all over again!
Good luck and God bless...
Matt

I agree, when someone tells me I abuse the car, I smile and nod... Now you have to understand they don't mean abusing it like driving it through the woods, sitting on the hood, eating fast food in it... they mean driving it hard, having fun with it, and getting the most out of it.

no acutally since summer has started ive been working 13 hour days every day. and with my one day off. i use it to sleep. its seen 2,500 at the most since summer started. the last time it was beat on was the last burnout video i made to finish off the old tires.

and i bought an explorer motor. and some mew forged internals.. new thread about it in like 40 mins after i get a shower. just got home with the motor after spending all day getting it out of the mountaineer. what a PITA that was.

How can you be hard on a stock motor? I've been hard on all my stock 5.0Ls. I've had them with 35K, 88K, 95K, 145K and a 150K....I beat on all of them, never had an issue.

I've had heads and intake on my 166K motor since 90K. Made over 100 passes at the drag strip. Some times back to back to back, with no cool down time. It's my daily driver and sees 15K - 18K per year.

As long as the fluids are maintained, shouldn't be any problems beating a stock/mild motor.

Sorry for the troubles ryan. Looking forward to the new motor progress thread!

So rev limiter clutch drops and 5500 RPM power shifts are bad for them now???

Wish someone said so 8 years ago.

I worried about mine for a little while after I did the tranny and nothing was leaking oil. Now she's back to normal leaving her mark everywhere I go and going through a quart ever 1k miles. The way I see it I don't even have to change the oil. Just keep adding, keeps it fresh.

If the pedal isn't all the way to the floor....then you're not really driving your Stang!
