I actually quit my car club last year, got tired of the same crap every show. I have not put my own car in any competition in many years. Not worth it, when I know it was better than others. I judge also btw, so I know what to look for especially 99-04's. At least at MCA judged shows you get some competition, but local shows are mostly popularity contests.
I agree that your car should have won something... but I can also see why it didn't, stupid popularity contests. Thats why I don't go to car shows that much, its always some stupid piece of crap riceburner that gets recognition
The latest issue of Car & Driver magazine (the 2007 New Car Issue), one of the editorials reports of a gentleman who was one of the first to rent a Shelby GT-H. Flew from New Jersey to Boston to rent it, drove it back to New Jersey to attend a couple of car shows. In one show, he was entered in the Shelby class which contained two 1966 Shelby GT-350-Hs. He won "Best in Class" and "Best in Show" at that car show... in a fricken rental car!!!
There were far more deserving cars that didn't win anything in that show. This show takes place monthly and the judges are usually biased toward classic muscle cars and hot rods. Modern day cars usally get overlooked. But this time it was Mustangs taking the awards, except mine.
Today on the highway three chicks (yes they looked good but were probably ********) in a red Ford Contour gave me a thumbs up. That felt better than winning any trophy.
