Went to the track last night CEL came on

I went to the track last night on my second run my car threw 3 codes p0354 p0355 and p0358. Something to do with coil packs I belive. The car isnt missing drove it home fine. But when I drove it down the track in 4th gear at 3500rpm it would just fall on its face. Do I need aftermarket coil packs? and the car is running a little lean should I need 24LB injectors. I am not sure just with the bolt ons I have I would think the stock coils and injectors would be ok. But i am kinda new to this.

Your stock injectors and coilpacks should be fine with the mods you have, but not sure about the codes need to search the internet. Go to your local Autozone and let them plug up to it and see what they say you might need. But don't buy anything yet, just research it on the internet first before you start throwing parts at it.

Stock coil packs are fine at all power levels. Saleen2001gt is using his stockers at 750 hp or something like that. I got the granetelli ones and they caused a misfire and I had to put the stock ones back on. Change your plugs, if that doesn't work then maybe you have a couple bad coils. Did you do a search on the code numbers yet? I think that will tell you what cylinders are out.

Yes the codes are for cylinder 4,5,8. But with 3 bad coils I would think the car should be missing. The car runs smooth. I am going to replace the spark plugs and see what happends from there. Thanks.

I threw 3 codes for my coil packs a few months ago. It started out not missing then, it kept getting worse and worse. Changed all the plugs and the 3 bad coils with stock ones and problem solved.

Swap some of the coils around to different cylinders and see if the codes go to them cylinders, then you will know its the coils.

Swaped the coils around no codes. I changed all my spark plugs car seems to be running fine. Thanks for the help.

By any chance, you didnt go and toss in that octane booster poo before you raced did you?

You may consider replacing the 6" long "Boots" on each COP assembly. These boots can be purchased from O'Reilly's for about $3 each. Each pkg. includes a boot and the internal spring that connects the coil to the plug. I had a miss in my daughters '00 Taurus. Replaced all 6 and problem disappeared.

I never knew you could replace just the boot...... until a service mgr. friend of mine let me in on this little secret. After some time these boots lose their insulative properties just like a spark plug wire.

I wonder how many people have replaced the whole COP assembly because of a miss caused by the deterioration of the boot.
