well last night i took the stang to the track. It was an 1/8th mile track. well it was my first time and i think i sucked pretty bad. i ran two times.
1st run= 9.44 sec @ 77mph
2nd run= 9.40 sec @ 78mph
I had the traction control on, probably should of took it off but wasnt for sure. My only mods are magnaflow magnapack catback, everything else is stock. So how do you guys think i did, i think i could of done better.

Leaving traction on is several tenths of a second added on to the time, so yes turn it off. My first time was a few weeks ago and best I got was a 9.5. I got it pulled down to a 9.2 last night.

Turn the TC off like everyone else said, practice getting out of the hole and have some fun!

My first time to the track was a 1/4 mile, I ran a 15.1... hahaha. Next run I ran a 14.9.

Next time I ran another 1/4 mile I ran a 13.9. Practice makes a big difference.

you said this

it just seemed liked you were comparing like a stock car to them and saying they shold run atleast low 9s since you run 8.8s

but your car isnt stock and it makes 270 whp

I was just trying to say my convertible was able to run sub 9s, it does weight a lot more than a coupe. So a coupe would be able to run a low 9 with less mods.

ok guys i have a quick question. well last night i went back to the track adn i did worse than i did last week.
1st run = 9.6x sec @ 76 mph.
I was talking to someone there at the track before i ran and he told me that i should lower my tire pressure down to like 15-20 psi. so i did so. (keep in mind im on street tires)
I also left traction control off and still did worse. so my question is what should i have my tire pressure at, cause last week i had it at like 30-35psi. and what do yall think could be the problem here, i will post up my 60' and rt when i get a chance.

last night @ 20 psi i was puttin down 9.2s again... and i still couldnt hook first off the line and after the eighth i dunno what was happening... i was losing so much time after that but my eighth stayed pretty consistent last night just wasnt my night at the track and who knows it might not have been yours either

What are you launching at?

yeah i guess not b/c everytime i ran last night my times were like 9.56, 9.6 or something around 9.6 and my mphs were close. so my times adn mph were consistent last night i just dont understand what was wrong.

Track prep has a lot to do with it. You will find that some people say lower your tire pressure on street tires, and others advise against it. I always lower my street tires to around 18psi.

Another key is learning to slip the clutch when launching. I used to cut sub 2.00's on street tires routinely, but that was on a good track. Last week, the best I could do was 2.2-2.3 sixty foots, slipping the clutch. Again, track prep and conditions have a lot to do with it. If you plan on going to the track, a set of drag radials should be at the top of your list of mods. Pick up a used set of 17 inch rims for 100-150 bucks and slap them on before you head out.

At 78mph, I think you should be around 8.8-8.9.
