went to the track on sat..need suggestions

I just read that your working with 291 rwhp, therefore you should have 12s on the Nittos. I ran a car VERY similar to yours this weekend, and here is how it did...

Its a coupe with TFS heads, B-cam (guessing here, I really have NO idea) Cobra intake, and all the bolt ons. Right near 280-290 rwhp on a set of Cobra rims with Nittos. My first pass I spun on a 3500 launch and hit a 13.05 power shifting the car at 5800 (the owner set the light there, so thats what I shifted at). Next run 3000 launch, very similar 60' but the car bogged this time and I again power shifted at 5800 and hit a 13.00. I know the car had a 12 in it but the track closed right after my run.

The owner was running 13.3-13.4 all day long in it, just to give you an idea of what better driving can do to a car! So on that note, instead of spending more money, work on launching and getting it down the track. With the power you make it should go 12s or very close!

my guess is with Drag Radials you'll hit a 12

He was running Nitto 555r's. Those are drag radials.

Well, i read your garage listings, and you failed to mention here that it's a convertable, kinda of makes a big difference, i was going to say 12's was easy till i saw that.

But, ported and polished twisted wedge heads, with the rest of your combo should produce more power than 290. You sure it's tuned right? I've seen more hp with box stock TFS TW's.

What was the actual 60ft time? How much pressure was in the nittos? How hot did you get them?

Well, if your anything like me, i have the power to run 12s, but not the traction. I also have valve float.... doyou? Keep practicing on the DRs and you will get better with them.

As far as the traction issue, I always read it and just agreed, until I ran my car on 17" cheapo radials. You can definately hook on a street radial. On my first passes on street tires I was hitting 2.1 60's and 2 passes later cut 2.0s. I am not saying anything against people here that cant hook, but the truth is after some practice you can hook, and run 12s. Especially on a Nitto, I never knew they were as good as they are!

60' times are extemely important in ET's. If you cut a 1.8, which is very plausible with DR's, than you'd be in the 12's.
