It was ****in horrible/waste of gas. My notch is my 2cnd 5 speed car but first 5 speen i took to the track so i cant drive all that well yet but on my totally stock car minus bassani x and flows i went 15.06 with a ****ty 2.4 60 foot. Seriously i had to "launch" at idle because it felt like i was on ice. I mean i even punched it in first with the 2.73's and still no traction. But hey my first time out in a 5 speed on a stock car its not to bad. I wish i would have at least got a 14.99. What do stock 5.0s run out of the factory?

Don't feel bad. I've got 4.10's and all the other stuff in my sig, and I only ran a 15.0 @ 93 mph (or was it 98 mph? I can't remember...) with a 2.2 60-foot. You think traction's tough to get with 2.73's, try launching 4.10's on stock-sized (225/60/15) street tires... :nonono:

I'd say you did okay. I ran almost the exact same time in my previous notch, and all I really had for mods were an off-road H, cat-back, and K&N panel filter with stock 3.08's and bald-arsed tires. I would imagine 14's are probably within your grasp - it's all about traction, and driving it like you stole it.

Did you do a burnout, in the waterpit? I see people do that all the time. They splash water on the fenderwells and when they pull up, it all runs down on the tire. Roll through, or if you can, arround. If it's regular radials, don't pull directly in the water, just where it is a little wet, do a mild burnout, pull to the line.

Either that or get new tires, or better yet, slicks.

dont ever use the water box on street tires, its completley pointless, you donnt need to heat up street tires, and to make sure you got all that water off them will require a decent burnout, whitch again is pointless. Go around the water box and spin the tires just alittle to get any gravel and such off, have them at about 25psi, pull to the line, rev to like 1500 and slip the clutch.

yea next time just spin the tires alittle you may have had some dirt or gravel stuck on the tires when you pulled up, but like said dont go through the water box. What was your mph

FWIW, a video of the above-mentioned 15.0 @ 93 run at Firebird International. The long burnout you hear at the beginning was the white notch in the other lane heating his drag radials. It doesn't SOUND like I spun that much, but it sure felt like it at the time - I dunno, maybe part of my slowness lies in my driving and the car's overall age. Anyway, the linky:

I dont know what tires you guys have, but I have 3.73s and a decent amount of power and had no trouble pulling 2.0 60's all day long on my first and only time out on street radials. I was on 245/45/17 Falken tires which arent known for traction and launched off idle.

Also to note in that video, looks like you spun only a little... Time to ride the clutch out of the hole some, and powershift the car. It will go faster!
