what about 4:10 in my 2003 cobra

Guys, I would like your input on this one. I have AT flowmasters on my 03 Cobra, and I am going to do K&N FIPK and a tune, not sure which one yet. That should put me close to 400rwhp, right. I am not going to do any more performance mods for now, since it is my daily driver, but I would like to do 4:10 rear end gears. I don't see many 03/04 cobra's on here with steeper gears but they are all pushing more power than me. If I am going to stick around 400rwhp, what do you think of 4:10's for me. Will the IRS be able to handle those gears? Any input is greatly appreciated.

I think you will enjoy a 3.90 or 3.73 gear in it. Going higher than that with the torque loving eaton and you'll haze the tires consistently. I have 4.10s in my 01 and they were AWESOME unboosted, but now it just makes for hazing the tires in 1st, 2nd, and the top of 3rd.

Don't get me wrong though, if you can get that thing to hook with a 4.10 or 4.30, it's a hell of a ride. 5th and 6th will also pull harder, but max out faster.

Uncle Meat,

Right now I think I am around 385rwhp max, so you think even with 4:10's with that type of power is to much. I don't plan on going over 400rwhp. Will I need to replace the half shafts in the IRS if I go to 3:90's or 4:10's? I am leaning to 4:10's, but still pondering. Any guys have steeper gears in there 03/04 cobra?

I agree with Uncle Meat. The 4:10's are great for N/A cobra's due to the lack of low end grunt. The Eaton takes care of that and then some in 03/04's, 4:10's and you'll be spinnin (or hoppin).
