i want to go with a holly 750 double pumper
Thats alot of carb for that motor. I would stick with a 600 or 650 DP if its a stick car and a vacuum secondary if its an auto. I dont have any technical information to back why I say that but I have always gotten better performance out of vacuum secondary carbs on automatic cars than I have double pumpers. On a fairly mild engine with a dual plane intake I would probably still stick with a vacuum secondary over a double pumper. If you already have the carb and are trying to avoid buying another one then Im sure you could make it work but if you are having to buy a new carb you would be money ahead going with something smaller.

I agree.. That is way too much carb for a street motor. You'll have to detune the crap out of the carb so that you can stop it from running rich just to get decent throttle response. Your best bet is an Edelbrock 600 or a BG 650. Trust me!

well i dont plan for it to be a daily drivin car and it wont stay mild for long..... The reason i want a double pumper is because when i mash the throttle i dont want to rely on vacumm...im also going with either a fully built AOD with full manual valvebody or tremec3550

I know what you mean about waiting for the secondary's to open, but dude trust me when I say that overcarbing will be way worse. It will be a bear to tune and it's really would be worth the extra cash to go with a smaller carb at first, then when you build your motor to get a larger one. You gotta remember that you're not putting it on a big block and the motor can only take in so much air and fuel. Go with what the guys are sayin, they know their ****.

Call AED and they'll set you up (804) 271-9107 . When I got my carb from them, it was within 2 jet sizes and their pricing is reasonable. They'll custom build you one or match you up with one they have. Mine is a 750 ported, polished, etc and flows around 850. I didn't see your cam specs but if your running 230 @.050 or up on the duration, you'll want a 750 dp calibrated to your combo. If you're going to keep the stock heads, etc you'll want to keep the cam somewhere in the 220s @.050 range and run a 650 carb. In that case I'd save the money and buy out of the box.
